From the smoky clubs of New Orleans to the grand concert halls of the world, jazz is the electrifying story of rhythm, rebellion, and reinvention. Born at the turn of the 20th century from a collision of African, Caribbean, and European musical traditions, jazz grew through the swing of the big band era, the improvisational genius of bebop, and the soulful cries of blues and hard bop. This performance by Libby Hammer Quintet, is a journey through that rich, ever-evolving history—celebrating the legends, the grooves, and the spirit that made jazz not just music, but a movement.

Libby Hammer has been prowling Perth’s jazz stages for many years and is well-known for creating splendid jazz experiences that are alive with the uncontrived joy of story-telling and music-making.  She is a life-member of the Perth Jazz Society, recognizing her outstanding long-term contribution to jazz.  Joining Libby for this event are long-time band members Alistair McEvoy on saxophones, Chris Foster on piano keyboard, Shane Pooley on double bass and Michael Perkins on drums.

This is an intimate and unique experience, being held in the City of Stirling community facility on the Scarborough Beach foreshore, giving you the chance to enjoy spectacular ocean views with your jazz.
