Karen Caddy

Karen has a passion for the arts, particularly live music, which came from growing up in a musical family.

Karen is an experience NFP Director and a graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors. In addition to ArtConnect, she currently sits on the Board of GolfWA.
She is very community-minded and served for eight years as a Councillor with the City of Stirling, as well as serving on the boards of the Stirling Business Centre and Scarborough Sports and Community Club. She is also Patron of the Scarborough Tennis Club and Vice-Patron of the Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club.
Karen has a passion for the arts, particularly live music, which came from growing up in a musical family. The ArtConnect Initiative was born out of a desire to make live performances more accessible to the community – to support our amazing local artists and provide lively cultural experiences that people can enjoy right here in their own neighbourhood.
Karen has been involved in the Scarborough Jazz Festival since its launch in 2021 (as Jazz by the Beach) and was the Festival Director of JazzConnect 2024.

Stephen Caddy

Steve has a deep love of music, and a deep appreciation of the value of community engagements in bringing us all together.

Having run his own dental business for 30+ years Stephen has a wealth of organisational experience and knows how to get things done.
Stephen is deeply embedded in the local community, serving on several community boards / committees including Scarborough Tennis Club, Scarborough Sports and Community Club, and Scarborough Primary School.
Steve has a deep love of music, and a deep appreciation of the value of community engagements in bringing us all together. As an extension of this he is involved in helping to bring small international sporting groups to Perth.
Stephen has been involved in the Scarborough Jazz Festival since its launch in 2021 (as Jazz by the Beach) and was Venue Liaison for JazzConnect 2024.

Marite Norris

Marite is a visual artist with a decade of experience across art education and community engagement.

Marite is a visual artist with a decade of experience across art education and community engagement.
She was the founder and owner of The Art Space Collective, Scarborough (2014-2024) an inspired and innovative community hub which, in the words of Western Australian artist Leon Pericles, aimed to "Inject art into the non-believers”. The Art Space Collective housed Scarborough’s first art gallery alongside art workshops for children and adults. Through this platform, Marite initiated multiple artistic projects (exhibitions, workshops, gigs, events and public art activations) in collaboration with Local and State Government.
Marite currently works within the mediums of painting and collage, a practice she has been building for 20 years and has held a number of exhibitions in Perth and Hong Kong.
A founding board member of the Mo, Evie and Otis Maslin Foundation, she has been on boards of organisations in the community and primary education sectors.

Wayne Bowen

Wayne has been a coastal resident for nearly 40 years and a local Scarborough business owner for about 30 years.

Wayne has been a coastal resident for nearly 40 years and a local Scarborough business owner for about 30 years. He has been involved in many aspects of the surf industry in Scarborough throughout this time and founded The Surf Boardroom in Scarborough in 1988. Together with partners he has grown this business to be one of the most respected surf retailers in WA. He attributes this to a passion for the industry and great staff. Wayne is a keen surfer and is committed to ensuring Scarborough business owners and residents enjoy the lifestyle this icon beach has to offer as Perth’s premier beach and surf location for the metro area. Wayne is pro-development in a sustainable and collaborative way to ensure the iconic nature of Scarborough continues for future generations.

Kathryn Preston

Active in her local community and a keen artist herself, Kathryn works tirelessly behind the scenes to create opportunities for cultural enrichment through the arts.

Kathryn is a passionate advocate for the arts, working as a producer in WA for many years.
Kathryn is committed to creating opportunities for artists to present their works and bringing the arts (in all forms) to the community.
Active in her local community and a keen artist herself, Kathryn works tirelessly behind the scenes to create opportunities for cultural enrichment through the arts.

Maureen Nichols

As a recent retiree, Maureen wants to use the skills and experience that she has amassed in her professional life to assist her family, friends and community.

As a recent retiree, Maureen wants to use the skills and experience that she has amassed in her professional life to assist her family, friends and community. Until recently, she worked at The University of Notre Dame Australia in its medical school in Fremantle.
Her career highlights include coordinating successful annual Local Government Week conferences with over 600 delegates (1993 - 2002), graduating the inaugural cohort of Notre Dame medical students in 2008, managing the medical school’s accreditation from 2005-2022, coordinating its successful bid for funding in 2023 for an end-to-end medical program in Broome, and coordinating the International Congress for Emotional Intelligence hosted by Notre Dame in Fremantle in 2019.
Having lived in Dublin, Mosman Park, Balga, North Perth, Narembeen, Karratha, Sydney and Mount Pleasant, she is now very happily embracing the Northbridge lifestyle – walking everywhere, eating out, participating in City events, and catching public transport whenever she can.
