JazzConnect 2024 (23-25 August) was a very successful community event that brought a unique and lively cultural experience to Scarborough. There were 15 individual events (both free and ticketed) at venues along the Scarborough Foreshore, delivering a festival with jazz spilling onto the streets and a place where visitors could walk from one jazz event to another.
Sponsored by the City of Stirling, the festival was designed to attract music lovers to Scarborough. It offered a broad range of jazz styles and genres, and a range of event-styles, from brunch to lunch to evening events. The 3-day program was deliberately curated to appeal to a wide range of patrons, from those who love jazz to those about to discover jazz.
Despite the terrible weather on the Saturday, with gale-force winds and rain that forced the closure of the Scarborough Saturday Markets, the festival got fantastic attendance with an estimate patronage of ~1,500 people across the weekend.
ArtConnect thanks Georgie Aue, our amazing Festival Curator, for her passion and dedication in pulling together such an eclectic line-up of acts. A big shout out to the Scarborough Beach Association and our venue partners for their support – the Sandbar, Scarborough Beach Bar, Zoie Cafe, The Lookout, El Grotto, Livid Skate, Rendezvous and the Scarborough markets.
We also want to acknowledge the team who contributed so much to the festival’s success – Alcs Digital (Website and Graphic Design), Cluse and Co (Digital Marketing), Dixie Battersby (PR), Sound and Mixing Perth, and Sheldon Ang Media (videography).
Planning has commenced for JazzConnect Scarborough 2025 in late August.
